Register your place now for the next Cardiff Web Scene Meet-Up!
Meet-Up #4 is being held on September 25 2008 at The Yard in The Old Brewery Quarter in Cardiff city centre. The evening begins at 6:30pm and runs through until 9pm and we're going to be upstairs, above the main bar.
There is a slight change to our speakers as unfortunately Carl Harris from the BCS is unable to join us at the next event.
However, we are VERY excited that, ahead of speaking at Future of Web
Apps in London in October, Simon Wardley will be joining us. Simon will
talking about innovation, the future and why nothing is ever simple.
He'll be looking at some of the main themes behind web 2.0, enterprise
2.0, commoditisation and innovation and proposes that a common pattern
exists behind them all. This pattern explains why nothing is ever
simple!
If that wasn't fantastic enough, our second speaker for the evening is
Mike Ellis. Mike is a Solutions Architect at Eduserv, organizer
of BathCamp (http://bathcamp08.eventbrite.com/),
obsessive blogger (http://electronicmuseum.org.uk/),
ex Head of Web for the Science Museum, serial web-app creator, digital
musician, and a few other things too!
The Cardiff Web Scene Meet-Up is a place for all those developers, designers and web enthusiasts who live and work in and around Cardiff. We've long been suffering without interaction between us - the time has come to break down those barriers and unite! The aim of the event is to get together with other people with similar interests, find out what other companies are up to and hopefully come away having learnt something new and met some interesting people.
Entrance isn’t restricted to invitees or registered visitors, so if you know someone who might be interested in joining us, please bring them along!
And remember, entrance to the Meet-Up is FREE!!!
You can find out more about the last meet up in our blog or visit our website!
Feedback from the last meet up...
'A great opportunity to network, to catch up on some of the latest developments happening locally and to test your ideas before an audience who 'gets it'. Who knows, you may even meet a new customer or someone prepared to invest in your business! '
Greg Cannon, www.walescymru.com
'Great night folks…thanks for all of your efforts…really enjoyed it.'
Mark Johnson, Sequence

Simon Wardley. As a geneticist with a love of mathematics and a fascination in economics, Simon has always found himself dealing with complex systems, whether it's in the behavioural patterns of ladybirds to modelling environmental risks of chemical pollution to developing novel computer systems to managing companies. The latter Simon has been doing for the last fourteen years, helping companies that range in size from start-up operations to global conglomerates and have been geographically dispersed from Amsterdam and Athens to Barcelona, London and Warsaw. The consistent theme is Simon's ability to provide practical, workable solutions and to bridge the gap between IT and business strategy. He is also a passionate advocate and researcher in the fields of organisation, commoditisation, innovation, cybernetics, fabrication technology and open source. He is also fond of ducks. As he says "they're fowl but not through choice".
